Abstract
The article considers the realization of the modular learning technology in foreign language teaching. The definition of the module is presented. The principles of the modular learning are considered in terms of the competence approach. The article presents the problem of the rating control in modular learning. The main types of the rating control are singled out. A modular programme of teaching the English language to university students is presented.
