The phenomenon «Englishness» and its concepts are examined in terms of British women’s fiction, the so-called «chick lit». Inspired by J.Austen’s classical novel «Pride and Prejudice», H. Fielding created «Bridget Jones’s Diary», the book which laid the foundation of women writers’ «chick lit» prose in the end of the XX-the beginning of the XXI centuries. These contemporary writings continue the existing tradition in their own way. |
