Abstract
The article considers the experience of effective organization of independent student learning activities using the project-based method and portfolio technology, as applied to the subject “Foreign Language”. The key components of these technologies are described. Some examples of group projects, the assessment criteria of projects and portfolio are given. The implementation of active methods in teaching allows us to instill critical thinking skills into students, increase their motivation and the quality of education.
