In the article genre omnitude of the American short stories of the nineteen-fifties and sixties is regarded from different perspectives, primarily in terms of how it affects the reader's perception of the text. Omnitude in this case is often manifest as a fundamental relativity of thematic criteria in the core of genre distinctions. At the same time, it is admitted that locating a work of fiction in a genre classification is essential for the interpretation of its subject matter. |
